1st Day of Preschool

Today was Owen's first day of Pre-K.  He technically qualifies for regular kindergarten this year, but I felt like he needed an extra year, especially because kindergarten is from 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  In my book, that is WAY too long for kindergarten.  He didn't qualify for the Transitional kindergarten class put on by the district (which is more like how kindergarten used to be), so we opted for the best little at home preschool run by a few ladies from church.  The teachers are as sweet as can be and even set up a little photo op for today.

I am happy to report that there were ZERO tears shed today.  He only had a "tickling feeling" in his tummy.  My boy is really growing up and I'm so proud of him.  Lexie, however, cried when Owen didn't come back into the car with us.  I think it was harder on her than it was on him.

We couldn't leave Lexie out.

Pumpkin Patch

Before Halloween, Owen's Pre-K class took a trip to the pumpkin patch and we made it a family affair!  I wish I'd dressed Lexie a little cuter because these are the only pumpkin patch pictures I got of her this year. Oh, well!  You can see that she is wearing red shoes. These are shoes that Rick found at a consignment store. They were okay, but kind of worn out. In the Halloween post, you can see how I painted these shoes green for her costume! That's why she is wearing green shoes with red soles in the pictures.  Anyway...

Holding hands. Melts my heart. Every. Time.

Even though Lexie is totally closing her eyes, I love how Owen is being so sweet with Charlie.

I love how this one shows Owen's crazy energy and Lexie's calm, go-with-the-flow demeanor.

So sweet.

And here's our own little pumpkin.

And so it begins...

My baby boy is growing up.

I took this picture on Monday, which marks the first morning that there were absolutely NO TEARS before preschool. YAY! There were still tears once it was time for me to leave him at preschool, but it's still a work in progress and I'm really impressed with just how far he's come in a few short weeks.

I bought a set of kids multi-colored plastic plates, bowls and cups at Ikea a long time ago.  Owen has never cared which color dish that he uses.

The other day, I got out the pink plate, which was next on the stack in the cabinet, for Owen's snack.

He immediately told me, "I don't want THAT plate!!! It's PINK!! I don't LIKE pink!!"

My boy is growing up.

And so it begins.
