Owen Edward Araiza

August 21, 2008
12:46 a.m.
20 inches
7 lbs. 5 oz

Hair: Light brown (it looks a lot darker in the pictures)
Eyes: Dark blue (for now - we'll see if they change color!)

After almost 24 hours of labor and not much progress, I had a C-section at around midnight. We are enjoying every minute of our little boy and think he is just the best thing in the world! We are endlessly entertained by all of his little sounds and different faces he makes. *Sigh* You could say we're in love. Here are some pics of our beautiful baby boy! For now we are just enjoying being home with our little one and I'm recovering from surgery. If anyone wants to visit we'd love company - just call ahead. More to come...

Oh Happy Day!

It's official - I will be induced on Aug. 20th!!! I feel as though a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. I cannot wait to be rid of swollen feet, swollen fingers, hot flashes, going to the bathroom every 45 minutes, etc. Not to mention, both Rick and I are ecstatic to finally meet Owen and be parents! If anyone has any tips/advice, feel free to leave a comment. **Please no horror birth stories. I don't want to psyche myself out. I'm trying to stay optimistic.** Thanks!

Welcome Home!!!

On Monday my wonderful brother Jonathan returned home from serving a 2 year mission for our church in Colorado. He was scheduled to fly in to Long Beach at 8:21 p.m., but on early Monday afternoon we got a phone call that his flight had been changed. Instead, he was flying into LAX at 5:45 p.m. We were SO excited that he was coming home three hours early!

Here are some pictures of us at the airport. We have LOVED having him home and have been spending every minute with him before he leaves again to go to BYU in two weeks.
Welcome home, Jonathan!! We are SO proud of you! We love you!

2 weeks and counting

I just came back from a dr. appointment. My dr. is out of town but wanted me to come in to get my blood pressure checked and do an ultrasound. I'm happy to report that my blood pressure has not gone up since last week, so that is good news. When having the ultrasound done, the technician did a bunch of measurements and according to her calculations, Owen already weighs 6 lbs. 7 oz. I am SOOOO glad I'm not going all the way to 40 weeks. I'm afraid that if I did he would be a monster! Hopefully I'll get a nice 7 lbs. something oz. baby. I could even handle 8 lbs. I think. I just know I'm glad he's coming sooner than later. :)

In other news, my brother Jonathan is returning home from serving a two-year mission in Colorado. He comes home on Monday, Aug. 11th and I am SO excited to see him! While in Colorado he learned to speak Spanish (who would've thought there's a big Latin community in the cow country of Colorado?). We've all missed him like crazy and can't believe that it's been 2 years since he left home. We are all so proud of him and his dedication to serving the Lord. I am definitely going to relieve myself of full bed rest to see him at the airport. Wahoo!

More to come...
