So Cute I Am About to Die....

by Mommy, of course.

Lexie 3 Months

Lexie had her 3 month check up last week.

Her stats:
Height: 25 inches
Weight: 14 lbs. 9 oz.

Our little Lexie Girl is growing like a weed! I love her cute baby chunky-ness! This girl has the longest eye lashes I have ever seen and the cutest smile.

New Tricks: Laughing!  She will also take a bottle now. (WHEW!) However, she is still not too sure about formula, so mommy's milk it is for this girl.

Sleeping Habits: She usually goes down for the night at about 11 p.m. and sleeps until about 4 a.m. Then she'll eat and go back to sleep until 8:30 or 9 (or whenever Owen decides to wake her up!)  During the day she takes shorter naps on and off in the morning, but come late afternoon she's tired and usually takes a good 2 hour nap.

Temperament: Lexie is very easy going. She hardly makes a peep unless she's tired or hungry. When she's really tired and trying to go to sleep she'll usually fuss for a few mintues and then settle down. She gets the most alert/active/talkative at night - anywhere from 8 - 10 p.m.  She is also a champ when it comes to handling big brother's kisses all over her face, nose, head, etc., and tummy squishes/tickles.  She does get an immediate smile on her face when Owen talks to her, holds her hand, or lays down next to her.

Side Story: Owen always wants to "see" (i.e., touch, kiss, caress, etc..) when she's sleeping.  I'll tell him to wait because Lexie's asleep. The next thing I know, I hear Lexie waking up from the other room and then, "Mommy!! She's awake!!! She's awake now!!" with a BIG GRIN on his face.  But it's an innocent grin. He's not doing it to be naughty. He just can't help himself. He's genuinley surprised and happy that she has woken up.

Halloween Costumes

Owen says to me at 8:30 a.m. after just barely waking up:

"MOMMY!! I know what Lexie should be for Halloween!!! A little tiny hot dog!!"

Then he burst into laughter.

"That be silly, huh Mommy?"

At various times during the past week he has told me what Lexie should be for Halloween.
So far on the list we have
1.)cheesecake
2.) Pluto
3.)Batman
4.)little tiny hotdog

He has also come up with some brilliant ideas for himself.

While at my parent's house, he started looking intently at their fireplace.  Then he said, "Mommy, That guy climb on the roof? And come down the.....[chimney] and bring toys inside? His sleigh stay on the roof?"

Me: "Yes. Santa Claus does that."

Owen: "I want to wear a costume like Santa Claus and be Santa Claus for Halloween!!"

Owen's list of Halloween costumes include:
1.) Santa Claus
2.) Batman
3.) Darth Vader
4.) Hot Dog
5.) The Hulk
6.) Doctor
and my favorite,
6.) Daddy

We'll see if any of these costumes make the cut when Halloween rolls around.

Lacking...

I feel like most of my blog posts lately are about Lexie.
I haven't been trying to neglect Owen, but I like to put pictures with my posts.
Lately, when I try to take Owen's picture, this is what happens.

Thus the lack of blog posts about Owen.

However, he has been saying some very cute things lately. Here are a few of our conversations we've had in the past week.

#1: While driving in the car, he looked out of the window.
Owen: Hey Mommy, are those clouds?
Mom: Yup.
Owen: Hey Mommy, what do clouds feel like? Are they.... [searching for the right word].... fluffy?
Mom: Yes, I think so.
Owen: Oh! That's really cool. Hey, it looks like the ocean! Hey Mommy, how you get to clouds? I want to go there! I want to climb a tall, tall ladder and touch them!

#2: While driving in the car, we could see the Pyramid at CalState LB.
Owen: Hey Mommy, what's that thing over there?
Mom: That's a pyramid. That's where I went to school.
Owen: Oooooh... cool. And daddy went there?
Mom: No, Daddy goes to a different school.
Owen: Mommy, what daddy going to be? A doctor?
Mom: No, he's going to be a nurse. A nurse is someone who helps a doctor.
Owen: Oh yeah. I want to be a nurse, too. I want to give medicine to people and to help people. You went to school to be nurse, Mommy?
Mom: No, I went to school to be a teacher. I used to teach preschool and help kids.
Owen: Oooooh!  I want to do that!! I want to help kids! I want to be teacher! Mommy, you help me be teacher?
Mom: Yeah, I can help you.
Owen: Okay, thanks! That be really cool.

#3:
Owen: Hey Mommy, what's that thing inside your head?
Mom: Your brain.
Owen: Oooooh yeah! Your brain! Hey Mommy, what your brain look like?
Mom: It's pink and gray.
Owen: Oh yeah. That's really cool!

"I never done/seen that anyfore."

"You know, you can just do what anything you want."

"I did/seen that one last year when I was a baby."

A Hard Day's Work

Time of Photo: 5 p.m.

Precious.

Lexie Lately

Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Length: Approx. 22 inches
Weight: Approx. 12 lbs (She hasn't had her check-up yet)
Clothing Size: 3 Months, 3-6 Months
Nicknames: Lexie Girl, Lexie Lou, Lexie Love

Lexie has become less high maintance lately. Instead of being held all of the time, she likes to lay in her crib and watch her mobile. She also LOVES to go in her bouncer seat. She will sit in that for a long time and just smile at all of the toys; it's very cute.

She has also started sleeping more at night, waking up usually once at about 4 a.m. to eat, but sometimes not at all! She DOES however, still need to sleep cuddled up next to someone. Thus, the bassinet has become a dumping ground for dirty clothes.

She is very easy going and puts up with big brother Owen giving her kisses, squeezing her cheeks, holding her hand, blowing raspberries on her tummy, and tickling her toes - even when she's sleeping. (Yeah, we're working on that one).

She is a joy to have around and is smiling more and more. I got a really good smiling picture on my cell phone but haven't gotten one with the good camera yet.  The other night she even gave us her first giggle - it was the sweetest thing I've ever heard!

She has one dimple on her left cheek when she smiles. She has three rolls on each of her thighs and I could just eat her up! She is a good eater and it shows! :) More pics to come....
