10-4, Charlie

I have a new nephew and he is the cutest thing ever.

On July 7th, my ROCKSTAR- of- a-sister, Julie, delivered Charles Michael Majdali...All 10 lbs. 4 oz. and  22 inches of him. I cannot even imagine. I bow to you, Julie. :)

She delivered him via C-Section and I got to see him briefly before he was brought into recovery with her. I snapped a few pictures while I was there. He's got the cutest little cheeks and big hands that we are calling little puppy paws.

Since she's been home from the hospital, I've been able to snuggle him once or twice and I could just eat him up! He is so cuddly and cute. I'm so excited to have a nephew on the Stephens side and to have another boy cousin for Owen to play with!

His nicknames already include Charlie Bucket (from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) and 10-4 Charlie, referencing radio talk and his birth weight.  Welcome to the world, Charlie!!

Let the Countdown Begin...

June 21st marks the day that I will find out if Owen is going to have a brother or a sister!  I keep having dreams that this new little baby is a little girl, but we'll have to wait and see.  I had an appt today and heard the baby's heartbeat; it was 165 and the baby was moving a lot! I can't wait to find out what I'm having so that I can get started on shopping!

Big Brother

Owen has accepted the news of a new baby coming.  I explained to him that there is a tiny baby in my tummy and when it gets bigger, it will come out and play with Owen.  I wasn't really sure if he'd quite understand what was going on, but there have been several instances that prove he has a pretty good grasp on the situation.

#1:  He will often look at me, and then my stomach, and say, "Get bigger, bigger, bigger and then come out play with Owen!"  He gestures using his hands, starting by making a tiny circle and then moving them further and further apart.  He also sometimes replaces the word "bigger" with "taller".

#2: One afternoon he went to his toy box, pulled out a baseball, brought it to my stomach, and said, "Here go, baby."

#3: I was lying in bed (I spend most of my time there these days) and Owen was sitting next to me.  He gently put laid his head on my stomach, gave it a soft pat, and said, "Hi there, little baby."

#4: Another time when I was lying in bed, Owen again gently laid his head on my stomach, gave it another pat and said, "Baby!  Want to come over?"

#5: This morning Owen and I were standing in the kitchen.  Owen noticed my growing stomach (it's getting very hard to hide now) and he said, "Oh!  Getting big!  Baby come out now??!!"

I can't wait for Owen to meet this little baby.  I know he is going to be such a good big brother.
