Disneyland

Thanks to Auntie Hannah, we were able to have a DISNEY day!!  We all had a blast.  I'm sorry, but no matter how old I am, I still get excited going to Disneyland. It was pretty crowded, so we did some things that are a little less popular, but were still fun for the kids.

Riding the Carousel.  She cried when it was time to get off.  We had to pry her fingers off the golden pole.  Seriously.

Eating cotton candy (Owen's absolute FAVORITE treat at Disneyland) and waiting for the "Mickey and the Magical Map" show to start.  The show was SO GOOD.  They haven't had a show there that good for awhile.

Innoventions - one of Owen's favorites, of course, because we told him it is a science building.  Iron man is Owen's favorite super hero, so Rick told Owen to stand in front of the Iron Man suit for a picture.  Lexie walked over right away and posed.  Owen didn't want to go near it.  After talking, he told me that he was afraid that when his back was turned it would, "come alive".

After some reassurance, he joined the picture, too.

And here's another shot of all the Iron Man suits from the movies.  It was pretty cool.

THANK YOU, Hannah for helping us out!  We had a blast and made lots of fun memories!

Random Pics

I've been meaning to download the pictures from my camera but haven't gotten around to it until now.  There's a bunch of pictures from random things, so I thought I'd post a few.

Our Disneyland passes started "blocking" us out in June and this picture was taken before one of our last trips.  He was very excited to go and picked out this Pluto shirt all by himself at the store so that he could wear it that day.

Rick got some new sunglasses and Owen decided to try them on.

A little while ago we got a twin size bed for Owen. I took him to the store to pick out his very own sheets and he went with Buzz and Woody.  I found a duvet cover at Home Goods for $15 and a duvet at Ikea for about $15 as well (not pictured).  When I fixed his bed for him, he seriously laid in it for a good twenty minutes.  He kept saying, "Owen really like this bed! Ooooooh.... this SO com-to-bull!  Just like Mommy and Daddy's covers!" He loves his new bed.

When we were potty training, the big bribe for Owen was to get a fish.  His one fish has turned into a full blown aquarium with six fish - Colors, Ariel, Nooni, Salsa, Candies, and Crazy -  a crab, Sebastian (may he RIP), a dwarf frog, Hoppy, and a snail, Cookies.
This was taken the day before Father's day. Owen decided to try on Rick's shoes, so I had to capture it on film.

That same day we were making a special father's day rice krispy treat for Rick. I guess Owen was feeling very father-like because he went to his room, found his tie, and put it on his pajama shirt.  Then he got one for me and put it on my shirt for me.
He was very proud of the rice krispy treat that he made for his daddy and had a wonderful time putting as many sprinkles on it as he wanted.

More to come...

First Comes Love...

Then Comes Marriage!
Last weekend my sister Julie got engaged!  Yay!!!

It was a truly magical proposal.
Mark (my future brother-in-law) got some MAJOR hook-ups at Disneyland.

The Story:
Last Saturday was Mark's birthday, so the two of them planned to spend the day at Disneyland.
What Julie didn't know was that Mark had made arrangements with the Engagement Coordinator of Disneyland!
Um.... I didn't even know they HAD that!!  That just makes me love Disneyland even more!

So the plan was that at 7:30 p.m. they would forgo the line of the Storybook Land ride and go straight to the EXIT.  They would also get a boat all to themselves (except for the tour guide).
To avoid suspicion from Julie, Mark told her that one of his clients worked at Disney (which is true) and had graciously offered to let them skip the line for one of the smaller rides and also get their own boat in honor of his birthday (not as true).

Something else that Julie didn't know was that my whole family was HIDING near the teacups waiting for them to get on the ride so that we could be waiting for them after the proposal.
This was taken just moments before they got on the boat... Sorry it's so blurry, but this was the best I could get.  Mark is wearing a blue shirt and he has his arm around Julie, which you can sort of see.

So.... they finally boarded the boat.

We quickly ran around to the exit of the ride to wait for the happy couple.  The cast members were AWESOME and gave us these super cute wedding cake bubbles to blow when they got off of the ride.
I don't have ALL of the details, but here's the short version of how Mark actually popped the question.

They had just gone under a bridge in which the tour guide instructed them to make a wish.  Then the boat stopped in front of Cinderella's castle and the tour guide asked Julie if she made a wish.

She then said, "Well, you never know... sometimes wishes come true."

And then he pulled out the ring...

Then we saw their boat come around the corner and the tour guide ringing a bell and yelling,
"Just engaged!!!"

As if that weren't enough, a cast member led our entire group of 10 people
(all the while ringing a bell and yelling, "Julie and Mark just got engaged!!!!")
through Fantasyland over to the Peter Pan ride, in which we all got to board through the EXIT!

A re-enactment in front of the ride

It was an AMAZING night and we couldn't be more excited for Julie and Mark!!
